For outdoor riding, mountain bikes are the first choice. He can cope with various road conditions, even on uneven roads, which is the main reason why many friends choose mountain bikes for cycling. In addition to the wider tires of mountain bikes that can cope with the road and improve grip, his shock absorber, that is, the front fork, can also make riding more comfortable. Since the front fork is so powerful, maintenance must also keep up
The junction between the front fork of the mountain bike and the stroke tube will have a dust seal, usually with a vacuum sponge inside. Over time, the vacuum sponge will be short of oil, and dirt will accumulate inside. Here, I will tell you how to clean and maintain it. You need to prepare a toothbrush, detergent, tire lever or bottle screwdriver, sealing oil and paper towels.

First, wipe the stroke tube with a paper towel moistened with detergent, and clean up the oil and dust to avoid re-contamination. After cleaning, be sure to wipe off excess water.

Use a screwdriver to slowly pry open the sealing ring along the circular seam. If you have other soft tools, such as a tire lever, it is the best choice. If you like to play guitar, guitar picks are also a very good prying tool.

Adjust the pressure of the front fork, press the front fork, and the front fork will expand and contract, which will bring up the seal ring and expose the dust suction sponge. After pressing a few times, bring it out of the sea. You can see the cleanliness of the sea and whether it is dry and lacking in oil.

Wipe the sponge compartment with a paper towel to wipe off the dirt. This is no need to use any cleaning products, as long as the oil stains need to be cleaned. If the sea surface has been completely muddy, it is best to have a comprehensive maintenance.

Use a paper towel to block the vacuum sponge compartment to prevent dust from falling, and then use a toothbrush to scrub the sealing ring to clean up the oil stains on the sealing ring. Add the sealing oil to the vacuum sponge, press the sponge into the sponge compartment, and add an appropriate amount of oil. You don't need to add a lot, and you don't need to feel dripping. Then wipe off the excess grease.

Check the aging degree of the sealing ring. If there are signs of aging, choose to replace it according to the situation or replace it during the next major maintenance. The seal ring that has no signs of aging and cleaned up is pressed into the front fork along the gap.

Make sure that all parts of the sealing ring are pressed in completely and the sealing is good.
